Marcel Luske

Marcel Luske has not done anything that is all that incredible in the world of poker but that does not mean he is not famous by any stretch.  Born in 1953 inside Amsterdam, Luske has managed to build an image of popularity despite the fact that he has yet to claim any of the many titles that poker has to offer.  Many people wonder why he is being called a star, but there is no doubt if you ask anyone who plays with him if he is or not.  There is something about Marcel Luske that just makes him special.  For one thing, his poker career is still in the infant stages, less than three years as a matter of fact.  Then you take into consideration the overly flamboyant style that he maintains and you see that he is nothing short of the perfect spokesman for the world of poker and he takes this task very seriously.

This is not to say that he does not win.  Actually he is very good at the game and has brought in a lot of money to support himself as he plays full time on the circuit as well as the casinos.  Luske has made two appearances on Late Night Poker but those did not turn out to be very good for him.  He then made a run for the main event in World Series of Poker and this proved to be quite the change, as he placed tenth overall and he has continued to place in the money for the World Series of Poker consistently over time.

The over the top style that Luske maintains has only helped to garner the image that he is one of the best.  He is known to wear his sunglasses upside down during play and is fond of wearing a suit and sneakers to maintain a level of comfort.  He is also very talkative during the games, but never berates the other players as he considers this to be rude.  This manner of graciousness has earned him a reputation as being one of the better people to play with a long the way.  This is not an easy thing to accomplish as so many poker players are known to be arrogant and self absorbed to say the least.

At fifty three years old, Luske has every intention of one day bringing home the top prize but until then he is more than happy where he is and continues to show marked improvement in his game.
