Blackjack is one of the most played
and most exciting games in the world today and the phenomenon grows
every day while playing online. When you first start to play Blackjack
you won’t believe how much fun you can have or how much money there
is to be won. The first thing that you should know is what the basic
object of the game is, you want to be able to have a hand that equals
21 or as close as possible without going over, and you want to be
closer to 21 than the dealer. If you get exactly 21 with your first
two cards, it is called Blackjack, to have a Blackjack you have
to have an Ace and a 10 value card. This is one of the few poker
games where you aren’t playing against the other players, the only
person you are trying to beat is the dealer. One of the reasons
that is one of the biggest perks of the game is that you don’t have
to worry about bluffing people, or being bluffed by someone else.
Well the first thing that you need to know about this game is how
to bet, you bet before each hand is dealt and you place that bet
in the space outlined for you on the table. Right after the bets
are put down the cards are dealt out, but before you get to that
you need to know the value of each one of the cards, this way there
is no mistake during the game. If you get an Ace you can count it
as either a 1 or 11, depending on which will work out better for
your hand. All of the cards numbered 2-9 are counted as face value.
The 10, Jack, Queen, and King are all valued as 10. You don’t have
to worry about the suits in this game because they don’t mean anything,
the only thing you have to worry about is the value of the cards.
There are two different types of hands that you can have in this
game a soft hand and a hard hand. If you have a soft hand that means
you have an Ace in your hand and a hard hand has no Ace.
Now that you know all about the value
of the cards it is time to find out what happens when the dealer
deals you the cards. When the dealer starts to deal out the cards
he will make two rounds around the table starting at his left, so
that everyone including himself has two cards. The dealer will then
turn one of his cards over so that everyone can see its value (this
will help you decide later in the game how to play your hand). After
all of the cards are dealt around the table the player in the first
position, to the immediate left of the dealer looks at their hand
and takes the time to decide how they would like to play their hand.
In this game you have the choice to do several different things,
you can Hit, Stand, Double Down, Split, or Fold. To Hit means that
you don’t think your hand equals close enough to 21 and you would
like to get another card. Standing means that you are happy with
your hand total and don’t want another card. Possibly one of the
most profitable choices that a player can make in this game is to
Double Down, you only have this choice if you have only your original
two cards. Doubling Down allows you to double your bet and receive
only one more card. You do this when you think that with one more
card you will get very close to or right on 21.
Now on to what a Split is, if you
are dealt in your original two cards a numerically matching pair
of cards, you have the option to split the hand into two separate
hands and play them separately from each other ( you should always
Split a pair of Aces) . And finally to Fold is to quit the game
because you don’t think you will have a winning hand. When you start
to play you will notice that the dealer plays their hand a little
differently than you do, for instance if they have anything less
than a 17 they have to Hit, which can end up being profitable for
you because their chances of busting (which means to go over 21)
are very good, if they bust you automatically win. When playing
against the dealer and deciding how you want to play your hand you
should always look at his up card to get an idea of what total they
