Card Stud Poker
7 Card Stud
is a wonderful game to play and, especially if you are familiar with
other forms of Poker, it is really easy to learn. The first thing
that you need to know when playing at an online casino (or in a land
based casino, for that matter) is what the betting limits are.
Because of the amount of betting that goes on in this game, it is
important to enter a table that you can afford to play at for a
while. Typically, the Buy-In for a game is ten times the low limit,
but it is suggested that you buy-in for at least 20-30 times the
minimum so that you aren’t out of money after the first hand. To
begin the game, each player is to put up an Ante, which usually
starts at 10% of the limit and can go up to 25%, so be sure to check
this information at the casino you are in. Now, the dealer will deal
each player two cards face down and one card face up. The dealer
will announce which player is to bet first, and this is based on the
lowest face up (door) card. This player must open with an amount
equal to 2 times the ante. Each player has the option to bet or fold
in this round. Once the betting is complete, 4th Street is dealt.
This is one face up card for each player. This time, the dealer
announces the 1st bettor as the one with the highest hand and
betting commences clockwise from that player. 5th and 6th Streets
are conducted exactly the same as 4th Street. When the game gets to
7th Street, the dealer deals each player one card face down and the
highest showing hand begins this final round of betting. At this
point, its time for the “Showdown”. This means that all remaining
players show their cards so that the winner can be decided. The
hands are revealed beginning with the opening bettor for the hand
and continues clockwise around the table. The player showing the
highest five card poker hand will be declared the winner by the
dealer, and in online games, the pot will automatically be put into
the winner’s account. As a final note as to how to play this game,
normal poker hand rankings apply to all poker hands in 7 Card Stud. |
